chapter IV: otherness

Galleria Raffaella Cortese presents a curated project dedicated to artists who approach the theme of otherness in cross-cutting ways. Whether it’s a characteristic dimension of the relationship with oneself, between oneself and a body not representing it, with the other, with another country, or with one’s own or others’ pain, the theme of foreignness is more central than ever nowadays, as demonstrated by the curatorial choice of Adriano Pedrosa for the Venice Biennale. Francesco Arena, Silvia Bächli, Miroslaw Balka, Yael Bartana, Monica Bonvicini, Simone Forti, Gabrielle Goliath, Edi Hila, Roni Horn, Joan Jonas, Zoe Leonard and Anna Maria Maiolino are artists of different ages, generations, and backgrounds who share a common focus on both their own and others’ sense of otherness.
