Art Basel Paris 2024

Galleria Raffaella Cortese presents a curated selection of a few critically significant works by Francesco Arena, Monica Bonvicini, Edi Hila, Roni Horn, Kimsooja, Zoe Leonard, and Anna Maria Maiolino (recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2024 Venice Biennale).
These artists engage in a profound exploration of the contradictions surrounding the individual and politics, freedom and power, free thought and control, information and disinformation — foundational themes that have defined the gallery’s nearly three decades of activity. This year’s exhibition project centers on the themes of limits and balance, serving as the thread that metaphorically outlines the booth’s perimeter. This concept, expressed through diverse forms of artistic expression, simultaneously asserts the booth’s symbolic and fundamentally ontological nature as a boundary.
Where does personal freedom begin and end in a society that increasingly subverts its founding principles, making less space for the safeguarding of individuals and more for control and manipulation?
On the occasion of the *“*Oh la là section at Art Basel Paris”, the floor of Galleria Raffaella Cortese’s booth is suddenly tinged with gold. Marcello Maloberti presents La Conversione di San Paolo, a performative installation charged with meaning.
