Simone Forti, L'orso allo specchio

We are pleased to present a video recording of the book launch event for L'orso allo specchio, the Italian translation of Simone Forti's The Bear in the Mirror. Hosted at Galleria Raffaella Cortese on the occasion of the Milano Art Week 2020, the event featured Alberto Salvadori (Director of Fondazione ICA), Andrea Wiarda (Co-founder and co-director of Kunstverein), and Stefano Collicelli Cagol (Co-curator of the 2020 Quadriennale) in conversation with Simone Forti (in videoconference from Los Angeles) and Silvia Sorri (University of Florence) about the artist's life and work.

Book launch event at Galleria Raffaella Cortese, Milan

September 9, 2020

I’ve gathered so many books (….), all about the family. This is all washing over me like a waterfall. I can’t figure out the genealogy, the chronology flows like currents that wind around each other at different rates. (…). And now I’m recognizing that I’m part of this tribe, this family of writers writing about our tribe.

– Simone Forti

Following Simone Forti’s 2016 solo show Here It Comes at Vleeshal, in 2018 Vleeshal and Koenig Books published The Bear in the Mirror, a collection of Forti’s stories, prose-poems, drawings, photos, letters, notes, and memories. The artist’s book has now been translated in Italian; L’orso allo specchio was published by Kunstverein Publishing and Vleeshal, and produced by Kunstverein Milano with the support of Galleria Raffaella Cortese and Fondazione ICA, Milano in 2020.
