They consist of micro sequences obtained from two different shots and two cameras, side by side. A short interval of time separates two images printed on a single sheet, and creates the unexpected events of everyday life. Looking at these new diptychs, we feel a perceptual disorientation and we can only regain equilibrium on closer observation when we analyse the link, inseparable but at the same time constantly variable, between space, time and the human presence. It is not exactly correct to talk about space, it would be better to say place, which more accurately describes a situation depending on human relationships. The problem is how to be in this space recognising that often we experience places without knowing them and life without understanding it, in a society which doesn’t corrispond to our needs to communicate. In her photographs, Paola De Pietri includes people giving them a role and bringing the places to life. Thus she affirms that reality can only be lived in full awareness accepting also the mysterious side of live. Paola De Pietri, considered as one of the most renowned Italian photographers, is exhibiting at the same time at the Musei Civici in Reggio Emilia. The show is promoted by Biblioteca Panizzi. In this public space, curated by Laura Gasparini, the artist presents also some significant works from her past, giving us a more complete vision of her artistic research. For the occasion of the two exhibitions, a catalogue will be published by Art&, with texts by Vittoria Coen and Roberta Valtorta.
