Paola de Pietri

The work of the young artist-photographer Paola De Pietri springs directly from an encounter with the real world. The immediacy of the communication implies the study of the relationships between individuals and the world, investigating architectural shapes, domestic interiors, nature and the body which, appears as an abstract and understated detail in the more recent photographs. Far from any systematic criteria, she does not aim to give her photos an exhaustive character starting from a concept. What she’s interested in is the experience which endures and underlies the fragmentation of perception. Her work is characterized by such a variety of places, stories and points of view that finding one’s way means realizing the unifying thought behind the images. She wants to restore a clear vision of reality in a world that appears ever more artificial and manipulated, reestablishing direct contact between us and our surroundings. Paola De Pietri was born in Reggio Emilia in 1960. She graduated at DAMS in Bologna.
